Shorts (with pockets!)
Leave it to Linda at Craftaholics Anonymous to come up with a great pattern and tutorial for these adorable shorts with pockets. Don't you love her fabrics?
Kimi is expecting her 4th boy in a few months, so Kimi - you'd better get sewing (plus, I'm sure C would love some more comfy shorts)!!

Embellished Arm Warmers
Remember seeing these cute arm warmers made from knee socks? Well Megan at Brassy Apple has some great ideas for embellishing arm warmers HERE. She also includes a link to her original post for creating the arm warmers. Super cute idea. I think I'll have to do this with my daughter and her friends at the next late over :)

Summer Skirt
So about a month ago I finally tried my hand at sewing with elastic thread and I made my towel dress for Lake Powell. It didn't turn out exactly perfect (Missy, stop laughing) but it worked and it got me really excited to try another project with shirring. Well, I have the pattern from MADE to make a little girl's dress- but I don't have a little girl. I keep thinking I should make a dress for one of my many nieces, but I think I'll make this Summer Skirt for myself first (when you look at the post, scroll down to the bottom for the link to the tutorial) . Dana makes the skirt in a cotton fabric, but I think it would be really cute to make with a knit. We'll see when I can get to it... I promised myself (and my husband) no new projects until laundry was all caught up, the kitchen floor is mopped, and started projects get finished!

Tiered Skirt
seven thirty three today (what a cute blog - so glad I came across it). Check out her tutorial for this darling tiered skirt. Isn't that adorable? I've got 3 daughters - 2 that insist on wearing skirts or dresses everyday, so I can't wait to try this. The instructions look pretty simple and I love how she gives the math so you can make it as long as you want.
Off to the fabric store I go! Wouldn't these fabrics be cute?

Warhol Dress
I have no girls of my own- but I am loving this little dress. Made from a man's t-shirt, and the yoke (the neckline) is so stinkin' cute!! Missy's little girls cry everyday that they want to wear dresses, if I was their Grandma I would make them some of these (wink, wink). Dana from MADE is offering this pattern for free!! Go check out the Warhol Dress and download the pattern for yourself.
Also, while you're there- you should check out Dana's Beach Towel Dress
I saw it the day she posted it and I just can't get it off my mind- I think it will be perfect for the summer. I bought the elastic thread, beach towel, and pattern yesterday; as soon as my sewing room is clean I'm gonna give shirring a try- keep your fingers crossed for me!

Fat Quarter Baby Dress & Quilt
When I came across this fat quarter baby dress & quilt, I was inspired. I am a novice when it comes to sewing (that's an understatement), but I'm gonna have to get better because I WANT TO MAKE THESE!
Aren't they so stinkin' cute? Thanks to Melissa at The Polka Dot Chair for this amazing tutorial!
(not to be confused with the Polka Dot Door... am I dating myself?? Anyone else remember that show?)

Strawberry Applique
I love finding cute new blogs to follow; Little Page Turners does not disappoint. She has great ideas, geared for younger children, and I LOVE that she features childrens' books to go with her activities. The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear is one of our favorite books around here- if you haven't read it, you should. Well, on to the tutorial... Christianne makes a darling Strawberry appliqued shirt and she even gives us the pattern. Very cute and so summery- love it.

Spring Dresses
Aren't these spring dresses so beautiful? If you thought jelly rolls, turnovers, honey buns, and layer cakes referred only to food, you need to visit Moda Bake Shop. These adorable terms are for the various sizes of their pre-cut fabric bundles. This tutorial is really easy to follow - it makes me want to dust off my sewing machine and make some! Thanks to Tam from Sew Dang Cute who created these for Moda Bake Shop.

Itty Bitty Dress
SO, I admit I am totally behind the times. Made By Rae posted this pattern 2 years ago. But, with summer approaching I've seen it popping up on blogs again- like this post from Homemade By Jill. So cute!!
Singed Flower Shirts
Crap I've Made shows us this cute way to brighten up plain old t-shirts with singed flowers. So cute!

Imposter Denim
Other than my fatal fashion mistake (one of many) called Girbaud jeans, I have never spent more than $25 on a pair of jeans. I know, I know - every fashionista tells me that a good pair of jeans is the best investment, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Well, I can now wear my cheap jeans with pride. I Am Momma Hear Me Roar shows how to bling up your booty HERE. I would recommend using tissue paper for your pattern or tracing your design with a fabric pen. Can't wait to to create my imposter jeans!

My Boys' Ties- Updated with pics
Speaking of my cute boys and their Easter clothes, I had a couple of people at church ask me about their ties. I said I would blog all about them :) For my 4 year old I followed this tutorial and made him a real little boy tie. My one thing I learned from this- just follow the pattern. I originally cut it out and I thought that it was too long. I cut out a big chunk from the middle (a good 6 inches, I know, dumb) and dangled it around his neck thinking that it looked about right. As the hubs was trying to tie it around my son's neck this morning- we realized that I had created 2 problems. #1 the tie was not long enough (who knew that the knot would take up SO much length of the tie) and #2 the tie never really got very skinny (because I took the skinny part out) so was rather difficult to tie. Luckily the hubs was able to do a "deacon knot" as he calls it and although the back part of the tie is REALLY short, it looked fine from the front. I'm going to try and fix it by adding some length (and some seams) in the middle- or just start all over with my lessons learned.
For my littler boys I used the Lil Guy's Tie pattern I purchased from Make It and Love It Etsy Shop . She gives very detailed instructions and pictures- fantastic pattern and tutorial for those like me who really don't know how to sew. I used this pattern for the boys' Christmas ties, so I actually whipped the Easter ties out pretty quick in one evening. When we got home from church our sweet neighbor snapped a couple of pictures of our boys- keep in mind they had been at church for almost 4 hours, hence the untucked shirts and backwards hat on the oldest.

Sidney's Skirt
I looked at all of the little girls Easter dresses today at church, and couldn't help but be a teensy-bit jealous. Don't get me wrong, my boys looked absolutely adorable in their matching ties and newsboy caps- but really nothing beats a little girl in an Easter dress. SO, as long as I'm dreaming and scheming about a little girl I might (or might not) have one day, I look through my list of favorites to find this. Honestly, I can just imagine all of the bright spring fabrics I would put into this skirt. Thanks to the Polka Dot Chair for the pattern and instructions... maybe one day...

Pillowcase Dress
I saw these Pillowcase dresses a few years ago at Swiss Days (a boutique in Utah) and have had this tutorial from A Room Somewhere on my list of favorites for quite sometime. I think these dresses would look so cute on Missy's little girls this spring :)

How to Applique

Appliqued shirts, jeans, onesies, etc... are everywhere. I have found so many projects I want to make, but didn't know how to applique. I had to learn how to do this. After much searching I found this easy-to-follow tutorial on Life Frosting. Check it out- I promise if I can do it, you can too.
Need some applique ideas to inspire you? Check these out... (click pictures to link)
